The impact of silicone thickness on electronic products

Home    更新    The impact of silicone thickness on electronic products

When using modern electronic products, the divergence problem is very serious. In order to ensure operating efficiency, the heat dissipation problem must be actively resolved. For example, in PCs, it is necessary to solve the heat dissipation problem of the central processing unit. Thermal grease is usually added between the heat sink and the CPU. Nowadays, with the advancement of science and the faster and faster operation of electronic products, heat dissipation is still the main problem that manufacturers are trying to solve. At present, thermally conductive silicone sheets are widely used and are called a new generation of thermally conductive technology. It shows that it is possible to replace the silicone grease immediately after the market, and its choice depends largely on its thickness.

First of all, the thickness directly affects the thermal resistance coefficient

The thermal resistance coefficient refers to the resistance encountered during heat transfer. Literally, the lower the electrical resistance, the higher the thermal conductivity, and the thermal resistance of thermal grease used in early personal computers is very low, so it is very popular among various manufacturers. However, the problem with too much silicone grease is that it may fall off after long-term use. The thickness of the thermally conductive silicone sheet determines the coefficient of thermal resistance. However, it should be explained here that the thinner the conductive silicone resin sheet, the better the thermal conductivity. The choice of thickness mainly depends on the specific heat dissipation object.

Second, the thickness is different, the price is different

Thermally conductive silicone sheet is shrinkable, so to a certain extent, it also has a shock-resistant effect on electronic products, can resist shock and conduct excess heat. The thickness of the thermally conductive silicone sheet is different, and the price is also different. When conductive silica gel is used in electronic products, its thickness should be determined according to actual conditions. Too thick or too thin will produce corresponding waste. Generally, the thickness can be selected from a wide range of 0.5 mm to 1.5 mm. Different thicknesses determine the length of the heat transfer path, as well as the size and price of the thermal resistance coefficient.
